My second week has been just as incredible as the last. This week I created an open mic night for high school students that will be hosted at iAM Music. This idea formulated due to the local open mic being shut down and relocated to a local pub. Although this open mic is still open to the high school age group my mentor and I wanted to create a scene and environment for teens to feel comfortable sharing their talent. The goal is for this program to be ongoing however that decision will be made based on the success of the first open mic. I cant wait for this open night and to see all the local high school talent. I have also fully booked my tour along the cost of California. This tour will be held at the beginning of summer 2017 and I will use the skills I learned on this internship as I make my way down the coast. This week has also inspired my to find my path after high school that goes beyond just continuing my music. My mentors are so selfless and giving and it inspired me to follow the same path they do. I plan on spending the first five years after college traveling and giving back to the world. After these years I want to open my own non-profit and provide music lessons to those who otherwise would not have that opportunity. iAm music and this internship has shaped my life in so many incredible ways and I can only hope I can do the same. I have never been so eager to get up in the morning and start my day, heres to week three!
